2 ½ Weeks Post Relaxer: Soothing An Itchy Scalp

I decided to do a mid-week wash since my scalp was itching. It wasn’t flaking, but it was itching. I don’t think it was any product I used since the itching only started a couple of days ago. I’m chalking this up to my spending more time outside and pollen has been on the attack, so I’m thinking I may have some pollen that’s rested on my head and is irritating my scalp. Here’s how my midweek wash went.

The night before I put some extra virgin coconut oil on my hair and combed it through, put on a satin nightcap, and went to bed. My hair felt extremely moisturized in the morning, so I finger-combed, left it loose, and went to work. When I got home, I detangled using extra virgin olive oil and my fingers.

I then braided my hair into five braids.

Even though I did a mini-pre-poo overnight still spent 40 minutes with a Brazilian keratin conditioner on my braids.

I then rinsed my hair in warm water and clarified with SheaMoisture African Black Soap Deep Cleansing Shampoo. I used an application bottle so I could get the product on my scalp.

After rinsing I deep conditioned with Thermafuse HeatSmart Serum Condition for an hour and 40 minutes without heat.

Express conditioned with Design Essentials Stimulations Super Moisturizing Conditioner.

T-shirt dried for 30 minutes.

Sprayed my hair with my go-to detangler Pantene Pro-V Moisture Mist Detangler and got out any tangles with my fingers and seamless comb.

Applied my leave-in of Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Leave In Conditioner and sealed with an argan oil serum.

Air-dried some more and then finished drying under my hooded dryer on low heat. Cross-wrapped my hair and went to bed.

During the wash, I noticed a bit more shedding than I'd seen in my last washes, nothing that has me alarmed though. My scalp stopped itching (hallelujah!) and my hair felt moisturized. I did notice that my ends weren't as moisturized as they'd been the last few washes, so I'll have to baby them between now and the next wash.
Did you have a good wash day?
