10 Weeks Post Relaxer: Trying A Braided Updo

I am now 10 weeks post and the new growth is really starting to make its presence known. The good thing is it's staying stretched throughout the week and not tangling. This means I'm seeing little to none when it comes to breakage. I'm thinking of putting a hard protein treatment in the mix within the next couple of weeks.

On to the wash day which was an exciting one for me for two reasons. First, my tea rinses were back (yea!). Second, my hooded dryer was also back in the mix so no more tired arms!

I started off with a deep pre-poo by sectioning my hair into four sections, spraying my scalp with Apple Cider Vinegar, and applying L'Oreal Total Repair 5 Ceramide Conditioner on the length of my hair. After applying the product to each section, I did two strand twists (not very well mind you), pined the twists up, and wore my Hot Head Deep Conditioning Cap for about an hour.

Due to this being a co-wash day, my cleansing product of choice was Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea CoWash. My hair felt so moisturized.

Next was the tea rinse. For this, I used green tea which I was a little concerned about because it can sometimes make my hair feel dry and I wasn't deep conditioning this week. To reduce the amount of drying that could happen I applied the green tea directly to and only to my scalp using an application bottle. The result, no dry hair.

After rinsing it was time to dry off which I did with a t-shirt for a couple of hours. I finished drying under my hooded dryer, but not before applying Nothing But Melted Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioner as my leave-in. Once dry, I finished off with sunflower oil on my ends, wrapped my hair, and went to bed.

The next morning I didn't want to wear my hair down. In my 2015 Hair Goals post, I listed a goal of protecting my ends by wearing up-dos at least five days each week. Well, last week I wore my hair up for only four days. So my goal this week is to wear an up-do every day. Here's my first one, side french braids with a bun in the back.

  2. This is a SUPER cute style! One of my faves. Hi Five for using an applicator bottle to apply your tea rinse! That's exactly what I do and it definitely keeps my hair from feeling brittle afterwards!

Thanks for sharing your #washdayexperience chica!
