So this post is very late hence my combining the months October and November into one post. For that, I apologize. Moving to another state and starting a new job have just consumed my time.
To start off this update I thought back to my
September Hair Health Update post where I laid out four goals for my relaxed hair for the month of October. Those goals were to:
Since I didn't verbalize any separate goals for November, I decided to roll over my October goals into November.
Here's how I would grade myself against the goals:
What day is it? Wash day!!!! Once again this was a simple wash day with great results. Here's what I did.
The end of the year can be a great time to shop for gifts, stock up, or treat yourself. So many stores and brands have products on sale so they can clear out stock to make room for next year’s merchandise.
I myself have been able to find and take advantage of some really good deals on clothing, hair, and beauty items. But when I use one or more of these holiday savings tips I’ll be sharing I’m able to save even more.
Since trying out the
Herbal Essences Naked Cleansing Conditioner I've wanted to try another co-wash product but haven't gotten around to researching and buying one. So I was excited when I won the As I Am Cleansing Pudding in an online giveaway.
The
key benefit of co-washing is you can clean your hair without drying it out. And since I'm all about keeping my hair moisturized I was looking for this co-wash to help with that.
This my first wash day in Florida! Since I'm staying with family friends until I find a permanent residence I don't have all of my hair tools at my disposal (particularly my hooded dryer). So I am tweaking my regimen to keep it simpler and shorter than usual.
With the simple and short theme in mind, I opted to use some specific products.
Ceramides are helpful and important for hair health because they help keep the hair strands intact. They also help provide elasticity, shine, smoothness, and moisture retention just to name a few. So I was excited to try out the Total Repair 5 Restoring Conditioner from L'Oreal that has ceramides in it.
Description
"Total Repair 5 Restoring Conditioner instantly and over time helps repair the five visible signs of damaged hair - split ends, weakness, roughness, dullness and dehydration - without weighing hair down. Clinically tested* *System of shampoo and conditioner tested for instant results + lasting transformation."
The stretch is over. It lasted a little more than 13 weeks. Why did I end my relaxer stretch now? As mentioned
in this post I am moving from North Carolina to Florida. So I wanted to get a touch-up and cut/shape up before I moved. This gives me some breathing room to do research on salons in the area and also makes my hair care easier during the transition.
I wanted to share what's been going on with me lately. It's not hair-related. It's actually a bit more personal.
I've accepted a new job in another state. So I am moving from North Carolina to Florida! The move is happening quickly - in a little less than two weeks! As I am writing this post I am in the process of packing up my condo and getting my things in order for the move.
Wow! How time does fly. It seems like only yesterday that October started. Now here we are officially in the fall season, Thanksgiving is a little more than three weeks away, snow has started to fall in the NC mountains (so thankful I don't live there), and the 30 Days without Heat Challenge has ended.
Yep. I did it. I went a full 30 days without using any direct heat on my hair. That meant no blow dryer and no curling iron. A little over a year ago going more than a week without using blow drying and flat ironing my hair on a daily basis probably would have given me hives.
It's amazing how things can change in a year. Now that I am striving for healthy hair the idea of going without my blow dryer or flat iron is no biggie. In fact, it's becoming my new normal.
I mentioned in my
last wash day post at 11 weeks post that I had started co-washing during the week to help with my moisture levels and to keep tangles at bay.
Well...I didn't get to it this week and the result was dry and tangled hair. Despite my not helping my hair much this week, my wash day went very well with apple cider vinegar helping to melt the tangles, a good conditioning, and drying with my hooded dryer.
