Kukui Nut Oil is a non-penetrating natural oil I had never heard of until I started researching natural oils that I could use on my relaxed hair. From my research, I've found that it's an up and coming oil growing in popularity. Kukui Nut Oil is starting to show up in ingredient lists for shampoos and conditioners because of the many benefits it provides.
So it's been a couple of weeks since my last wash day post. Partly from laziness and nothing new to report. I really didn't feel like washing my hair this week, but I really needed to because I'd been working out and sweating making my scalp and new growth feel dry. So I decided to push my wash day by a day.
It has been one year since I started my healthy relaxed hair journey! It's also been one year since I started this blog by publishing my first blog post! This last year has been an exciting one. Lots of changes and lots of progress with my healthy hair journey. Here are some of the highlights from the past year.
Grapeseed oil is an oil that I'd see in the store but didn't know much about so I ignored it. Reading hair blogs and looking for some natural products that I can use on my relaxed hair grapeseed oil popped up a lot. A whole lot. Despite that, it took me several months before I tried it. I have to say I really like and plan to continue using it.
After a great few busy days, including some off of work to spend time with my Mom who was visiting from North Carolina, the last thing I felt like doing was wash my hair. But I couldn't take how dry my hair was starting to feel and my scalp was starting to itch. Ultimately I kept my wash day simple and stuck to what's worked in the past.
Until I'd started my healthy relaxed hair journey I had never heard of almond oil. I didn't even know that you could make oil from almonds. In fact, there are two kinds of almond oil - sweet and bitter. Sweet almond oil is the one best used for hair and skin as bitter almond oil is highly toxic.
Sweet almond oil is made from the pressing of the almond nut or seed. The oil is rich in polyunsaturated and mono fatty acids, Vitamins A, B, and E, copper, zinc, and protein making it a great oil for all types of hair, including relaxed hair.
