April Highlights + Faves

I’ve heard some people say that March and April have felt like the longest year. Personally, I think April felt like the longest day. I’ve been working remotely for about 7 weeks now so I’ve been spending so much time in one area that most days tend to blend together.

April was supposed to be my relaxer touch-up month. Since the salons are closed here in Florida I’m not able to get my hair down. I started to find myself complaining about it but soon realized that stretching my relaxer longer could help my hair improve more than it has over the last three months.

Gotta look at the positive. Such as I’ve been able to spend more time outside, talking to family and friends, and catching up on my YouTube subscriptions.

Have you been able to find some positive in all of this as well? Hopefully, I can bring you a little positivity by sharing my April highlights and favorites.

Highlights

9 Tips For Longer Relaxer Stretching

At the beginning of April, I shared a video of my 9 tips for longer relaxer stretching, since that seems to be what I’ll be doing for the foreseeable future.

Relaxed Hair Update Quarantine Edition

Speaking of relaxer stretching I shared an update on my hair, how I’ve been doing with relaxer stretching, and how I plan to handle my hair going forward.

Low Cost Hair Products

A few years ago I wrote a post sharing a list of hair products that don’t cost a lot of money. It was a pretty popular post so I decided to update the products on the list since I didn’t recommend some of them anymore or they were discontinued. https://www.arelaxedgal.com/2015/06/my-low-cost-hair-product-picks.html

I finally, finally hit 1,000 followers on Instagram! It’s been something that was a long time coming. It’s not easy to hit that type of milestone on Instagram. Especially if you don’t have time to interact and post every single day. While I’ve hit 1,000 I wouldn’t be surprised to see that fluctuate over the next few days as I tend to have lots of follows and then unfollows a couple of days later. So I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

Favs

A New Desk Chair

I got a new desk chair for my home office! I really needed one because the one I was using didn’t have a lot of cushion in the seat, had no armrests, and didn’t have an agronomic back. I bought my chair at Staples, it was on sale and got it for about $81 dollars after discounts. Plus, I got a little cash back from Rakuten!

Favorite face mask tutorial

Since we’re being encouraged to wear face masks when we go out I’ve been making some face masks for myself and a friend. Of all of the tutorials I found online this one from Darling Adventures was the easiest and quickest one to follow.

Savor Podcast

I haven’t gotten into podcasts yet (what can I say I’m a slow adopter) but I happened to hear this on the radio and it peaked my interest. The Savor podcast is all about the history and science of food. It’s not just entertaining but also informative.
