Ulta Gorgeous Hair Event Picks For Relaxed Hair

It’s that time of the year again! It’s time for Ulta’s Gorgeous Hair Event!

The 2020 Gorgeous Hair Event is happening a little earlier. Last year it was in October. This year it's happening in May. I wonder if the fact that in many states hair salons are closed due to COVID-19 had anything to do with it (hmmm).

The event starts on Mother's Day, May 10, and runs through May 30. During these 20 days, Ulta will have various daily deals of 50% off select hair products. This is a great time to stock up on your hair staples and also try new products or brands you’ve been hesitant to because of price.

Here are a few additional details about the sale

  • Plus Diamond and Platinum Members get free shipping with any $10+ Beauty Steal purchase
  • As with most of these type of Ulta sales, the daily Beauty Steals last for one day only
  • Select Ulta stores have curbside pickup

When I found out about the sale, I immediately went to Ulta's site to see what brands and products were going to be on sale this year. There seem to be more online deals this year but that's probably more a factor of not being able to shop in-store like in other years. I also saw more brands that I would be interested in trying than I did last year. So my top hair picks list is a bit longer.

May 11

TGIN Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer. I use this pretty much on a daily basis and my hair really likes it. because it really softens my hair and adds a lot of moisture. While I liked it, after a while it was too much for my hair due to the silicone and protein in it.

Also on sale this day is the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler. It’s originally $39.99 but it’s on sale for $19.99! If you were thinking about trying it this is the time to do it. I personally haven't tried it but I've seen several good reviews from relaxed and natural haired ladies alike. So if you're looking for a new way to blow out your hair, giving the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler a try at this price could be worth it. This is an only deal.

The next interesting day for me is May 13 because the whole Not Your Mother's Natural line is on sale as an online-only deal. I've only used a few products from it and my favorite thus far is the Matcha Green Tea & Wild Apple Blossom Nutrient Rich Butter Masque. I've been using it for several months and I love the results I get, the budget-friendly price, and how quickly it works.

There are a few other products from the Not Your Mother's Natural line that I would like to try

May 15

The Chi for Ulta Beauty ceramic flat irons are on sale. I've seen in the relaxed hair Facebook groups I frequent that more and more women are turning to the flat iron as a way to manage their new growth while stretching. While I haven't flat ironed my hair in I can't remember how long I completely understand and used to do that my self as it's a helpful way to stretch your relaxer longer.

May 19

The Mane Choice Manetabolism Plus Healthy Hair Vitamins are on sale. I gave these vitamins a try and liked them. While I'm using another hair brand's vitamins right now, I would still recommend the ones from The Mane Choice as I thought they were good but didn't personally give me the results I saw from another brand.

The Macadamia Professional Hair Masques are also on sale. If you can afford it, now is a great time to stock up on these hair mosques because they are not cheap. My stylist has used this on my hair when I've gotten a touch-up and I thought my hair turned out feeling good afterward. I don't use them at home though because I've gotten good results from other hair mosques that are a lot easier on my wallet.

My top pick for this day is one that I'm not 100% sure is on sale this day. The site shows a picture of TGIN Green Tea Super Moist Leave-in Conditioner but there's no mention of it when you click on the day. Well, if it is on sale, I recommend giving it a try. Jut a little bit of it leaves my relaxed hair feeling hydrated and soft. Plus, it’s protein and silicone-free.

May 27

We're going to skip a few days to this day when Invisbobble hair rings are on sale. I love these for my hair. I use them for my ponytails and buns because they are so much better than the typical elastic hair ties. I still get a crease in my hair when I wear them for long periods of time but I think that's due to the nature of my hair texture.

May 28

The Hask brand of hair products is on sale via an online deal this day. I don't use this brand at home but my stylist sometimes uses it on my hair when I get a relaxer touch-up.

Throwing some bonuses in here for you. Joico hair products look like they are 2 for $26. This seems to be a popular higher-end hair brand in the relaxed hair community. The K-PAK and Moisture Recovery lines seem to be the most popular. This is another brand my stylist has used on my hair.
