My Favorite Light & Protein-free Leave-in Conditioner For Relaxed Hair

When it comes to my relaxed hair I go through phases. Sometimes I want and need to use heavier creams on my hair because my hair feels really dry. Other times I want and need to use something lighter because my hair isn’t that dry and I don’t want to weigh my hair down.

I’ve found that finding a heavier leave-in conditioner for my hair is pretty easy as it seems there are so many heavy ones out there. On the other hand, finding a leave-in conditioner that is on the lighter side but still moisturizes hair was a taller order. I tried several with no success until I decided to try a leave-in conditioner from TGIN.

My Favorite Light & Protein Free Leave In Conditioner For Relaxed Hair | A Relaxed Gal

If you follow me on Instagram or have watched several of my YouTube videos you may have seen me talk a bit about the TGIN Green Tea Super Moist Leave In Conditioner. As of the writing of this post, I have been using it for over three years so it must be good!

As noted in this video when I first tried the TGIN Green Tea Super Moist Leave In Conditioner I used it on my wet relaxed hair and then tried it out on my dry hair when I moisturized and sealed. I liked the results and kept using it and repurchasing the leave-in conditioner repeatedly. Personally, I think it’s one of the best leave-in conditioners for relaxed hair.

Some of the results I saw backed up some of the product claims

Product claim: Soft, shiny, and manageable hair
While I saw this with the first use, it became more pronounced over time after multiple uses. This was important for me as I was using this product while I was having issues with protein overload and I needed products that would help to soften my hair.

Product claim: Effectively detangles knots
I’ve never used this leave-in conditioner to detangle but I’m always able to run my fingers or wide-tooth comb through my hair after using it.

Product claim: Reduces frizz, flyaways, and breakage
I can attest that there were days when I was living in Florida and my hair would frizz up from the humidity I would apply the Green Tea Super Moist Leave in Conditioner at night or in the evening, wrap my hair, and in the morning it would be nice and smooth again.

There are a couple of product claims that I can’t attest to as they are kinda hard to measure. The last one especially as I’m not sure how the product can help in that area unless you apply it to your scalp which I don’t do
  • Replenishes hair's natural oils: This lightweight formula restores your hair’s natural oils without excessive build-up, leaving your hair smooth and lustrous and easing scalp inflammation.
  • Promotes hair growth: This leave in conditioner contains Green Tea and Argan oil to encourage hair growth while preventing hair loss. It does this by enabling better blood flow to the scalp.

Some additional things I also like about the TGIN Green Tea Super Moist Leave in Conditioner are
  • It’s protein-free
  • The ingredient list includes Green Tea, Shea butter, Sunflower oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Castor oil, and Argan oil
  • It is lightweight but a little bit goes a long way
  • It has a pleasant smell
  • I can purchase it from several different stores - Amazon, TGIN directly, Target, Sally Beauty, and Ulta
  • It travels well. When I travel I put some in a small 2 oz jar and it can last me close to a week even if I moisturize once a day
  • I can use it on my wet hair and when my hair is dry as part of my moisturizing and sealing routine
