August Highlights + Faves

Is it just me or does it feel like the days move really slowly and blend together but the year is moving by quickly? Some coworkers and I were talking about that because we can’t believe that we are now in the month of September.

August was an interesting month as in it was pretty similar to July. Some of the main differences were I allowed more me time and took it a bit easier. And I made some progress on my home office makeover.

If you'd like to see my highlights and faves for the month of August, keep reading. Some of the links below are affiliate links, so if you click on them and sign up or make a purchase I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Highlights

I don’t know if you heard but Too Faced launched a matte version of their Born This Way Foundation. Because I have oily skin I decided to do not just one wear test but two wear tests. You can watch both of them here

My hair is naturally dry and relaxing it drys it out even more. So I do a few things to give my hair moisture. I shared four of them in this video

Something else I do for my dry hair is to use moisturizing products on it like the Carol’s Daughter Coco Creme Deep Moisture Mask. You can learn more about it in this review.

I got a little personal on my blog in August when I shared What I Did To Financially Survive Two Layoffs.

For those thinking of starting a YouTube channel, you’re probably wondering how you can make money doing it. I shared 6 Tips To Get Monetized On YouTube.

Now that I’ve been working from home for several months now, I wish I’d invested in a good desk. Now the ones I really like and can afford are sold out for months. If you’re in the same boat, I shared a list of 20+ Budget-friendly Desks For Working Or Schooling At Home that you can check out.

Faves

I am currently working on redecorating my office space. I figured it was time since I'm going to be working in it for the foreseeable future and I'm tired of getting comments about the blank white wall behind me. I'm also tired of seeing the blank white wall in my videos and work-related video calls.

I haven't been able to find artwork that I like so I've been creating it myself. I made some Bible verse printables and put them in some silver frames I got from Michaels.

I'm also going to be doing a Dutch pour painting on some canvases that will go behind my desk. I found several good tutorials on YouTube for how to do the Dutch pour method. You can see what that method is here.

Another change I made was to change the bedding on the daybed. It made a big difference and helped to lighten up the room. You can check out the before and after on my Instagram page.
