Now that I am over 10 weeks post relaxer, I am co-washing during the middle of the week to help keep my relaxed hair moisturized and new growth detangled. This mid-week co-wash is in addition to the full washes that I've been doing on the weekends.
In October I was a recipient of the Mary Kay Clear Proof VoxBox from Influenster. They sent me this VoxBox to test the Clear Proof products. In this post, I'll be sharing my thoughts and opinions on the products I received.
This is my second VoxBox and I have to say Influenster doesn't disappoint. The products I've received in both boxes were full size or close to and they aren't cheap products.

Oh...my...goodness!
When I first tried the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream my hair didn't like it. My hair also didn't like it the second, third, and fourth time. After a while, I stopped using it. Then I pulled it back out during a relaxer stretch and used it on my dry new growth. Boy, was I surprised! My new growth ate it up!
Ever since I've been using this on my new growth when it feels dry and my relaxed hair has also come around to like it too. Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream keeps my new growth soft and moisturized for a couple of days and also helps me detangle my new growth.

I'm at 10 weeks post my last relaxer touch up and just like my last stretch I really can't tell. I haven't had any issues with my new growth tangling and am hoping that continues.
For this wash day, I did some things a little different and brought back a few oldies but goodies. During my pre-poo, I incorporated a hot oil treatment using sunflower oil, coconut oil, the last of my olive oil, and green tea.

Conditioners are an important part of a healthy hair care regimen. They are also, in my opinion, one of the more confusing hair products. The reason is they have different names, different benefits, and even different types.
Making sure you're using the right conditioner on your hair can impact how your hair turns out after you shampoo it. Not only is choosing the right conditioner important but also making sure that conditioner has the ingredients your hair needs.
I am now nine weeks post my last relaxer touch up and my stretch has been going well thus far. Minimal shedding and very little to no breakage. Also, I've been able to keep my hair moisturized including my new growth which acts like a desert floor and can't seem to get enough moisture.
For this wash day, I opted to co-wash with As I Am since I shampooed last week. To switch things up a bit I did a black tea rinse versus my normal green tea. The black tea was a free sample I got and because I don't care for the taste of black tea I saved it for a rinse. I
had read that black tea tends to dry out the hair more than other teas so I decided to use less for my rinse than I do when I've used green tea and pump up the moisture with the other products I used.
Let's jump in and see how the wash went.

Being a relaxed haired gal for the majority of my life I constantly heard that phrase from female family members, hairstylists, and even some guys,
As a result of consistently hearing this phrase, I would do whatever I could to protect my hair. That meant waiting till the rain stopped if I didn't have an umbrella, using an umbrella even when it was sprinkling rain, avoiding going swimming more than a couple of times a year, and wearing a shower cap every time I showered.

An amazing thing happened earlier this year when I started on my healthy hair journey. I no longer have an aversion to water. I've come to realize that water does more good for my hair than harm.
As I'm only a few months into my healthy hair journey, I am still on the hunt for the right mix of products for my relaxed hair. This means I'm constantly trying new conditioners and shampoos. Including a shampoo from Eden BodyWorks.
I've purchased a few products from the Eden BodyWorks brand and have been testing them out on my hair. So now I'm ready to share my results and thoughts on them with you.

For this wash day, I changed my regimen up a little because (drum roll) I did a protein treatment. I felt it was time. I've been focusing on moisture a lot and protein only a little, so I wanted to do a hard protein treatment now and another one the week before I get a relaxer touch-up several weeks from now. This way I can help balance my moisture and protein levels.
Also, this wash day had to happen quickly as I got started at 9 pm. My church was celebrating its 14-year anniversary this week and being a church officer and choir member I was at church just about every night during the week and would be there a large portion of the weekend.
The good news is I was able to get everything done in about three hours, including sitting under my hooded dryer for an hour.

As first mentioned in a previous wash day post at three weeks post, I participated in the 30 Days of Moisture Challenge hosted by Jen of Just Grow Already and Jay of Relaxed Thairapy. Dry hair has always been an issue for me because I used to use direct heat on my hair almost every day, I only deep conditioned every 10 or so weeks when at the salon, and I pretty much never moisturized my hair between washes.
When it comes to having healthy relaxed hair, shampoo is probably one of the most important products. Shampoo cleanses the hair and scalp riding them of product buildup and dirt which makes it the external starting point for promoting healthy hair growth.
