Sephora Savings Event Skincare Recommendations

It's that time of year! The spring Sephora Savings Event officially starts on April 9th and runs through April 15th. If you like to shop at Sephora I’ve put together a list of several skincare recommendations for the sale.

Sephora Savings Event details

As with other Sephora sales, the start date depends on your level within the Sephora rewards program. There are three different levels in the Sephora rewards program. Each level is based on how much you spend within a year.

  • The first level is Beauty Insider which is the level everyone starts when they sign up for the rewards program. There’s no spend level you need to reach or maintain.
  • The second level is VIB. You need to spend $350 a year to reach this level. If you buy a lot of beauty and hair products and shop exclusively at Sephora it probably wouldn’t be too hard to reach this threshold. I don’t spend this much on hair, beauty, and skin products in a year. Nor do I shop at Sephora very often so there’s no way I could see myself hitting this threshold.
  • The third and highest level is Rouge. To reach it you need to spend, wait for it,….$1000 in a year. Yes, you read that right, $1000. I probably won’t ever reach Rouge status. If $350 is a reach there’s no way, no way I would ever hit $1000. I can’t imagine spending that much in a year on hair, skin, and makeup products!

The reason I talked about the different levels in Sephora’s reward program is during sale events, each level gets a different discount. For this sale, Rouge gets 20% off, VIB gets 15% off, and Insider gets 10% off.

You will need a promo code to get the discount. The code is YAYSAVE. You could try the code in lowercase but I would personally go with the uppercase since that’s how it was provided.

You can use the Sephora promo code as many times as you’d like during the sale dates to get your Insider level discount.

Another reason the insider levels matter for this sale is that Rogues get first access to the sale meaning it starts April 5th for Rouges and April 9th for everyone else. The sale ends on April 15th for all Insider levels.

If you’re not a Beauty Insider yet you can sign up here.

Sephora Savings Event skincare recommendations

Ok, let’s get to the skincare recommendations. Some of these are products I use regularly or have tried. The rest are skincare products I have never used.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

This serum claims to reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion and balance visible aspects of sebum activity. Translated, it's supposed to help reduce breakouts and dark spots from blemishes and reduce oil production.

Since I started using it I have noticed my skin looking clearer than before. This serum has helped to reduce the size of my pimples and my skin isn’t as oily as it used to be. Also, my dark spots fade quicker than normal.

You can see my full review of the serum here.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydrating Serum

I use this serum at night especially in the winter to help with hydrating my oily skin.

Since I incorporated the serum into my skincare routine my skin has more of a glow or radiance, the texture looks better, and my skin doesn’t get easily dry in the winter like it used to.

Check out my full review here.

Murad Retinal ReSculpt Overnight Treatment

This is a serum that tackles visible signs of aging by lifting the look of sagging and smooths the appearance of deep-set wrinkles and crepey skin.

The serum itself had more of a moisturizer vs serum texture to me.

After using this for a few months I noticed a smoother skin texture and more radiant skin. When I stopped using it for a few days I noticed a clear difference in how my skin looked and felt.

I’d love to keep using this product but it retails for over $100. Not really in my budget.

Murad Rapid Relief Acne Spot Treatment

This is a maximum-strength, two-percent-salicylic-acid gel that soothes the skin, targets acne, and visibly reduces blemish size and redness in as little as four hours.

I used this several years ago when I was having some issues with breakouts and it worked really well.

Since I don’t break out like I used to I no longer need to use it.

Murad Clarifying Cleanser

This is an acne gel cleanser that helps dissolve excess oil, purify pores, clear existing blemishes, and prevent breakouts.

It uses two types of salicylic acid that start treating immediately and over time.

This is one thing I really like is the green tea extract that helps soothe and calm irritation for healthier-looking skin.

Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

This is a brand that has been gaining in popularity over the last couple of years so I'm seeing it more and more in my social feeds.

This particular Paula's Choice product is a leave-on exfoliator. I had never heard of that before this Paula's Choice product. Pretty much overnight it's supposed to exfoliate away dead skin cells, unclog pores, and visibly smooth wrinkles.

The key ingredients of this exfoliant are
  • 2% Salicylic Acid (BHA) which penetrates the pores to clear out buildup and shed dead skin
  • Green tea which is a potent antioxidant for soothing irritated skin and also helps with visible signs of aging
  • Methylpropanediol, it provides hydration enhances the glow of the skin, and also helps with the penetration of the product
This is one product that I may give a try sometime in the future as I need a new exfoliant since the one I used was discontinued.

Kiehls Ferulic Brew Antioxidant Facial Treatment

I was skeptical of using it but after using it a few times I noticed my skin glowing more and my overall tone looking much better

It actually lived up to the claims of leaving the skin with fewer lines, visibly smoother, and more even-toned due to the combination of Ferulic Acid, Lactic Acid, and Squalene.

It’s a little pricy so I haven’t used it after that bottle was used up.

Mario Badescu Mini Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater

This is more of a mist than a spray that revives dehydrated skin with a dewy glow anytime, anywhere. It smells good, doesn’t irritate the skin, and is good to use as a little pick-me-up for the skin, especially in the winter.

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toning Solution

It's an exfoliating toning solution with seven percent glycolic acid, amino acids, aloe vera, ginseng, and Tasmanian pepperberry. It’s good for Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily.

This Glycolic Acid helps with skin dullness and Uneven Texture which is why one popular use for it is to lighten up the underarms.
