11 Weeks Post Relaxer: A Simple Wash Day

Now that I am over 10 weeks post relaxer, I am co-washing during the middle of the week to help keep my relaxed hair moisturized and new growth detangled. This mid-week co-wash is in addition to the full washes that I've been doing on the weekends.

Pre-pooed by separating my hair into four sections, and sprayed my scalp, roots, and ends with apple cider vinegar (ACV) which made detangling a breeze. Then I put a keratin conditioner on each section and wore my Hot Head Deep Conditioning Cap for 45 minutes.

Cleansed with As I Am Cleansing Pudding and then did a green/black tea rinse.

Deep Conditioned with Eden BodyWorks Jojoba Monoi Deep Conditioner which I left on for 15 minutes.

Drying consisted of applying Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Leave in Conditioner, sunflower oil, and detangling while sitting under my hooded dryer for 1 1/2 hours.

The result was a great and simple wash day with detangled and moisturized hair.

  2. Wow - I sometimes wish I could co-wash during the week but I can't cope with detangling thoroughly more than once a week. Is that an issue for you? For an easy wash day, I do the same steps as you. It's nice to keep it simple.

    1. Thanks for reading Lam. I've found that co-washing during the week helps me with keeping the tangles at bay. So detangling before the co-wash isn't such a hassle.

  3. Simple & Easy = Winning! Does the dryer not dry your hair out with sitting with it loosely under the dryer?

    1. I use the low or cool heat setting which doesn't have the drying effect that the hot heat setting does.
