A Simple Wash Day With 8 Weeks Of New Growth

What day is it? Wash day! My wash day this past week was simple though I'm eight weeks post my last relaxer touch-up. Here's the rundown.

I pre-pooed by deep conditioning with the Eden BodyWorks Jojoba Monoi Deep Conditioner for about 30 minutes. I didn't use my heating cap since the weather was so warm. The conditioner sank into my strands.

Cleansed with the SheaMoisture African Black Soap Deep Cleansing Shampoo mixed with some water and grapeseed oil in an applicator bottle. Best mix ever. Cleansing and moisturizing.

I did a green tea and apple cider vinegar rinse that I massaged into my scalp and let sit for about 10 minutes. I also applied a light protein conditioner to my ends.

To end the wash day I air-dried for two hours with a t-shirt wrapped around my head. Then I put some Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Leave-In Conditioner on and sat under my hooded dryer for an hour. To seal my hair I used grapeseed oil.

Loved the results. Soft hair with body and some shine.

  1. I just love hassle free, successful wash days. Do you use a heat cap to trap in the heat at all if you don't use a steamer?

    1. I usually use a heat cap, but sometimes I'm too lazy to pull it out so I don't use anything or I condition while I work out.

  2. I just loove how thick your ends are, and gosh that conditioner really sank in, doesn't look like there was any conditioner at all :-)

  3. I agree with Becca! That conditioner completely disappeared into your hair! That definitely means that you hair loves it!

Sometimes I deep condition with my heat cap, but most of the time, I just cover with a plastic cap and warm knit hat then go on my merry way!

How are you styling your hair this week?

Thanks for sharing your #washdayexperience chica!

    1. I can get so lazy with my deep conditioning that I don't even break out the plastic cap.

My style this week was mostly buns with a couple of no fuss days of wearing my hair down.

      Thanks for reading!

  4. You hair is so thick and lovely! I have to deep condition with heat simply because I have coarse/low porosity hair and it needs the heat to penetrate! I'll be checking in for more posts! :)

  5. Your wash day was a success! I've heard some great things about Eden Bodyworks and it is only my list of products to try. Which products would you recommend from that line?

Thanks for sharing your #washday experience :)!

    1. Thanks for reading Jackie. Of the Eden BodyWorks products I've tried I like the jojoba deep conditioner, coconut shea cowash and the coconut shea leave-in conditioner. I tried the jojoba shampoo and didn't care for it.

    1. Thank you! Funny you should ask. I've been thinking about getting some rollers for roller sets since I don't have any. Don't know if I have the patience to put them all in though. I didn't do anything before sitting under the dryer other than apply my leave ins.
