Wash Day 5 Weeks Post Relaxer: Trying A New Co-wash

I have to say I was very excited about this wash day because I was going to try a new product. Sally Beauty was having a buy two get one free sale this month on some product lines including a line I use Eden BodyWorks. I needed to get some more of the deep conditioner and leave-in conditioner so for my free product I got the Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Cleansing CoWash.

Pre-poo

To pre-poo I sprayed the areas of my scalp where I had experienced some flaking later in the week with apple cider vinegar. I massaged the apple cider vinegar in and then applied Eden BodyWorks Jojoba Monoi Deep Conditioner to my hair avoiding my scalp. I planned to leave this on for 30 minutes, but it ended up being an hour which worked out well because my hair felt great after rinsing.

Cleanse

Next, it was time to cleanse using the Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea CoWash. After a few uses I plan to do a full review, but for now here are my first thoughts. I really like it. It has a lot of slip, but the consistency isn't too thick or too thin. It has a slight coconut smell, but it doesn't last long at all. I was worried about how effectively it would my hair, but it did a good job and it also rinsed out well. I'm curious to see how it performs during my next use.

Condition

Since I was loading up on moisture I wanted to balance it out some so I applied some of the OGX Keratin Oil Conditioner on my ends to add a kick of protein. I've almost used up this product and plan to buy more though I'll have to wait till I've used up a few other conditioner products first.

Dried

I t-shirt dried for about an hour and then applied Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Leave-in Conditioner and sunflower oil (that bottle I bought this summer seems endless). I also put some tea tree oil on my scalp in areas where I tend to see flaking towards the end of the week. Instead of using my blow dryer, I air-dried for the rest of the night by putting my hair up in a twist under my satin cap.

In the morning my roots were still damp so I finished drying using the low heat/high air setting on my blow dryer. I wore my hair down for a few hours but started to feel dry so I put it up in a bun and didn't have any other issues for the rest of the day. All around it was a good wash day.

What new hair products have you tried lately?

  1. Your wash day looks super simple. :-) Were there any products that you didn't like from that line?

    1. I've only tried a few products, but the one I didn't care for was the Jojoba Moisturizing Shampoo. It was more stripping than moisturizing.

  2. High five for a successful wash day! Do you dilute your ACV before you spray it on your scalp?

Thanks for sharing your #washdayexperience chica!

    1. I do dilute the ACV. I do roughly one part ACV and two parts water.
