Over the years, I’ve tried a few setting sprays to help keep my makeup locked in and my shine under control. Now, I’m sharing some of my top setting sprays for oily skin—including some I’ve personally tested and reviewed.

This cult favorite has earned its reputation. I shared a full review of the Urban Decay All Nighter here. While I don’t use it as often as I used to, I’m still a fan.
Now, this setting spray isn’t specifically marketed as mattifying, but it does help your makeup last for hours, up to 16, according to the brand. It also claims to
When I use it, I notice less fading and fewer touch-ups throughout the day. It’s oil-free, lightweight, and doesn’t clog my pores.
Places to purchase the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray are Ulta, Amazon, and Sephora.
This is my go-to drugstore setting spray and a great pick if you want something affordable. I shared a detailed review here, but here’s the quick version: it helps tone down shine and gives your makeup a soft matte finish.
Like with any setting spray, I’ve used it doesn’t completely eliminate oil, but it definitely helps prolong the look of a fresh face. Plus, it’s easy to find at most drugstores and doesn’t break the bank.
I’ve seen the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray at Ulta, Target, Amazon, CVS, and Walmart.
I recently gave Milani’s matte version of their classic setting spray a try because it’s specifically made with oily skin in mind. But I wasn’t sure if I should include this one on the list, as I personally wouldn’t use this again, but just because I didn’t care for it doesn’t mean you wouldn’t.
This setting spray comes out in a fine mist, more so than a spray, and it dries down quickly. This setting spray includes charcoal powder and silica to help absorb oil throughout the day. I thought I would like the charcoal and silica, but I would find my skin with little white dots after the spray dried down. I would also start feeling the setting spray on my skin later in the day, which wasn’t a comfortable feeling.
Despite my not liking it, I still think it’s one to try, especially as it did a pretty good job of helping to extend the wear of my makeup. You can find it at Ulta, Target, Amazon, and Walmart.
I’ve never used this particular setting spray, but from reviews I’ve watched and read, it seems like the L'Oréal Infallible Pro-Spray & Set is another solid drugstore-level option.
This L’Oreal setting spray is designed to keep makeup from smudging, settling, or melting. It says to have up to 36H transfer-resistant wear and be sweat and smudge-resistant. While the finish is natural vs. matte, it claims to keep everything locked in place and feel very lightweight on the skin.
It’s got me intrigued, so I will probably be giving this one a try. It can be found at CVS, Walmart, Target, Ulta, and Amazon.
If you’re dealing with extreme oiliness or need your makeup to last through heat, humidity, or even sweat, this spray is one to check out. I’ve never used it, but it claims to be:
In reviews, some users even compare it to hairspray for your face (in a good way). This is one setting spray I really want to try out, especially this summer when I’ll be spending more time outside in the sun and heat. This setting spray sounds like it could withstand all of that and more.
While the One/Size setting spray is a little more on the pricier side, around the same price as the Urban Decay All Nighter, but if you need serious staying power, it may be worth the investment. It can be found at Sephora and Kohl’s.
