Is The Sephora Spring Bonus Sale Worth It For Beauty Insiders?

Is It wrong that I’m a beauty blogger who doesn’t go or shop at Sephora more than once or twice a year? If it’s even that much.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Sephora. So much so that both times I was Canada last summer I made a special trip to browse around the store. While I’ll visit Sephora I don’t shop there much. I think one of the reasons is the store seems dark and moody to me so it kinda puts me out of a shopping mood when I go in there. Plus the majority of the makeup and other products cost so much more than my budget can handle.

But I digress. I’m not here to bash Sephora but to talk about the 2019 Spring Sale that is starting 5/2 for Beauty Insiders. Since I’m only at Beauty Insider status I’m just going to briefly mention some info about the other two levels and focus on us Beauty Insiders.

What is the Sephora Spring Bonus Sale?

Every year Sephora holds a storewide sale for all of their rewards members by giving them a special discount code to use at checkout.

What are the details of the sale?

This year the dates for the sale are May 2 - May 6. But Rouge members, the top tier of the rewards ladder, got early shopping access April 26.

Here are the discount levels

Rouge: This is the highest rewards level. They get 20% in-store by showing their Spring Bonus email and using the code HEYROUGE when shopping online.

VIB: This is the middle or second rewards level. They get 15% and can’t start shopping till the official first date of the sale. To get the discount they’ll need to show their Spring Bonus email in-store and use code HEYVIB online.

Insiders: This is the lowest or first level of the rewards program which is what I’m in (hey you have to spend $350 a year to get and stay at VIB status something I can’t justify.) Us Beauty Insiders 10% off in-store when we show our bonus email and online by using code HEYINSIDER.

For all of the levels, you can use your discount code as many times as you want and can afford during the duration of the sale.

There are a few limitations. I’ve noted the key ones below but make sure you read the fine print and pay attention to what the discount is applied.
  • Not valid on Google, The Ordinary, and MAC Cosmetics VIVA GLAM products.
  • Only valid on one Dyson item, three Drunk Elephant items, and three Tatcha items, and five Morphe items per transaction.
  • As with most discounts they aren’t valid on past purchases, purchases of gift cards or eGift cards, taxes, and shipping & handling charges. As well as FLASH, PLAY! by SEPHORA and gift wrap.

Some product recommendations

My personal opinion about the sale is to buy products that are exclusive to Sephora and you can’t get anywhere else. 10% of isn’t a lot but can save you a few extra dollars here and there.

Oh and if you want to save even more try using Ebates to get cash back on your purchase which helps you to save a little more overall. You can sign up today using my affiliate link to make sure you’re all set up before the Sephora sale starts. Plus, you could get a $10 bonus for signing up.

Ok, now for my recommendations.
Sephora spring sale: Kat Von D Cake Pencil Eyeliner

Kat Von D Cake Pencil Eyeliner

Beauty Insider sale price $17.10 / Original price $19
For me, $19 is a lot to spend on an eyeliner. Even one as good as this one so getting almost $2 off makes it a bit more affordable. I got a chance to test it out when Influencer sent me one for free. It glides on smoothly making it easy to apply. Plus it lasts for hours.

Sephora spring sale: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

Beauty Insider sale price $18 / Original price $20
Yep, another one from Kat Von D. I also got to try this for free when Influencer sent me one. I’ve never been a fan of liquid liners but I really liked this one. It’s great for easily and cleanly creating that winged liner look that seems to be pretty popular.

Sephora spring sale: Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation at Sephora Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

Beauty Insider sale price $31.50 / Original price $35
Not only is this a popular foundation, but it’s also a good one. I gave it a try by getting a sample from Sephora. I liked how it felt on my face and how it held up during the day. If I wasn’t a budget shopper and realized I could buy 5-6 of the drugstore foundation I use for every one of the Pro Filt’r this would be in my makeup bag.

Sephora spring sale: Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting SprayUrban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray

Beauty Insider sale price $28.80 / Original price $32
I really like this stuff. It not only keeps my makeup in place but also helps to lessen the amount of time it takes for my face to get oily. While you can get this at Ulta for the same price with the 10% Beauty Insider discount you can get it a little cheaper at Sephora.

Sephora spring sale: The Original Beautyblender The Original Beautyblender

Beauty Insider price $18 / Original price $20
This is supposed to be the best makeup sponge out there. I haven’t tried it yet and if you haven’t now is a good time to. While the original price is the same at Ulta but the Beauty Insider discount makes it a couple of dollars cheaper.

Sephora spring sale: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place FoundationEstee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation

Beauty Insider price $37.80 / Original price $42
This is the most expensive item on my list but I’ve heard the price is worth it. I haven’t been able to get a sample of this Estee Lauder foundation so I have yet to be convinced of that. This foundation is said to be very long-lasting even for oily skin like mine. Plus it comes in over 55 shades!

Sephora spring sale: Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3 Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3

Beauty Insider sale price $25.20 / Original price $28
This is a hair treatment I’ve been seeing a lot of relaxed and natural hair vloggers and Influencers use and talk about. It claims to be “a concentrated treatment that strengthens the hair from within, reducing breakage and improving its look and feel.” It seems this is being used in place of the traditional hard protein treatment.

Sephora spring sale: Moroccanoil TreatmentMoroccanoil Treatment

Beauty Insider sale price $30.60 / Original price $34
If you like to seal your hair with an oil or serum I’ve heard this is a good one. It claims that it “detangles, speeds up drying time, and boosts shine.” I've had some hair stylists use this on my hair and it made my hair feel soft and didn't weigh it down.

Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture Dream Come True Miracle Deep Moisturizing MaskMadam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture Dream Come True Miracle Deep Moisturizing Mask

Beauty Insider price $25.50 / Original price $28
This is a sulfate, paraben, and mineral oil free hair mask that claims to give hair “luxurious hydration to fight back against all the hair struggles—stiff, brittle, rough, frizzy, and dull. “

Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture So Extra Drenched Hydration Buttery Conditioner

Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture So Extra Drenched Hydration Buttery Conditioner

Beauty Insider sale price $19.8 / Original price $22
I probably won’t try this one because it has peaches in it and I don’t care for peach smells, tastes, peach anything. But it does sound intriguing because this is supposed to be a rinse out conditioner that not only detangles but provides deep hydration for all hair types.

Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture Hella Drenched Hydration Cream Co-Wash

Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture Hella Drenched Hydration Cream Co-Wash

Beauty Insider sale price $18 / Original price $20
This also has peach in it so I probably wouldn't purchase it but that won't stop me from recommending it. When you want to focus on moisture or have to wash your hair a lot having a co-wash on hand like this is a must. This co-wash Madam C.J. Walker co-wash says it's an intensely hydrating conditioning cleanser to wash and drench hair in all the moisture it needs.

As you can see the sale price for all of the products isn’t that much different than the original price but if you shop online with Ebates you can get a little bit of cash back on your purchase which can make the sale price look a little bit better.

So what do you think? Is the Sephora Spring Sale worth it for us Beauty Insiders?
